The Foreman's Tally

The Foreman's Tally is a side quest in the Wending Vale, offered by Warden Vossa.

That board by the mouth is the night shift's. Twelve names in chalk the night it broke: Gast's at the top, foreman, and his eleven under it. Not one chalked off. I've never had the heart to wipe it. Read it, if you like. Gast's coat is still on its peg, and the lamp-hooks are empty: they took their lamps down with them. Then stand at the mouth and listen. Mind the big one that walks the south wall.

Dialogue

While you work

The board, the coat, the hooks. Then the mouth. Listen.

On completion

You saw it too. A lamp, far down, moving. Gast was foreman; he never left a shift unfinished. Whatever carries that lamp now, one day someone will have to go down and tell him it's over.
